Warhammer 40,000 Darktide Review: The Post Patch 13 Experience
Warhammer 40,000 Darktide has had a tumultuous start and launch, but the recent patch has brought a light at the end of that tunnel. Having released on November 30th 2022, Darktide was hit with mixed reviews almost immediately. Now with the recent patch 13 and 14 however, new Steam reviews have been mostly positive.
For the uninitiated, Darktide is a 4 man cooperative horde based first person shooter. Similar to games such as Left 4 Dead, and Fatshark’s previous title Vermintide, Darktide is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe on the planet of Atoma. The game also sets itself apart by allowing players to create their own custom characters and select from different classes or archetypes.
What made this update so impactful and truly makes the game worth buying is that it overhauled all existing archetypes to allow them to be customized with entire skill trees being dedicated to each one. Having myself put most hours into Ogryn and Veteran these changes have made fighting hordes for the Emperor of Mankind truly fun.
To put it simply, if you love cooperative shooters, and have a group of 4 to play with, Darktide is an absolutely amazing game to play. With a bit of grinding for higher tier weapons in the late game, but an addicting combat loop Darktide is sure to become a staple of your gaming group.
